10 Things Your Travel Advisor Wishes You Knew Before Booking
After 25 years of crafting extraordinary journeys, our advisors have a few things they wish every traveler understood before picking up the phone. Consider this your insider briefing.
We love our clients. We love helping them travel better, see more, and come home with stories they'll tell for the rest of their lives. But after 25 years in this business, there are a few things we wish every traveler understood before we begin working together.
1. The Best Rooms Book First — Always
The overwater villa with the best lagoon view. The suite with the private plunge pool. These rooms exist in limited quantities, and they go to the travelers who book earliest. If you have a specific experience in mind, the time to start planning is now.
2. Travel Insurance Is Not Optional
We've seen clients face medical emergencies abroad, family crises requiring trip cancellation, and hurricanes shutting down resorts. Travel insurance is a fundamental part of responsible travel planning, and we will always recommend it.
3. Flexibility Has Real Value
The couple who can travel in late September instead of peak July will get a better room at a better price with fewer crowds. Even a few days of flexibility can make a meaningful difference.
4. What You See Online Is Not What You Get
Hotel photography is a form of optimistic fiction. Wide-angle lenses make rooms look larger. The "ocean view" room might require standing on the balcony railing and looking left. We know which properties deliver on their photography — and we'll tell you honestly.
5. Special Occasions Should Be Declared in Advance
If you're celebrating a honeymoon, anniversary, or birthday, tell us early. We can arrange amenities, upgrades, and experiences that transform a good trip into an unforgettable one. Mentioning it at check-in is too late.
6. The Conversation Is Free
There is no cost, no obligation, and no pressure to simply have a conversation with one of our advisors about where you want to go. Start the conversation — you might be surprised where it leads.
